Two years ago, Terrance struggled with a simple 3-letter word. Now? He proudly reads “Jalapeno!” with little help from his tutor. Terrance, who started STAIR as a 1st grader, thrived in his 3rd year. With STAIR expanding to include 3rd graders, he has more than doubled his word decoding skills and is reading complex books with confidence. Terrance is proof that sticking with students for the long run is an effective strategy for reading achievement.
Terrance completed 26 lessons last year and we are pleased to announce he passed his ACAP (Alabama Comprehensive Assessment Plan) and is moving on to 4th grade as a strong, confident reader!
At Tuggle Elementary, reading has become a family journey for Maria and her siblings. Two brothers have already traveled the STAIR path, and now Maria is paving the way for her younger sister, Wendy, who’s just starting her own adventure this year. For this family, STAIR has been like a steady road map—guiding them through challenges, celebrating milestones, and reminding them how far they’ve come together.
